It's August 22nd and the end of summer is near. Did it fly by for you too? I love the summer for many reasons. Of course everyone enjoys taking a little time off to get away and do some fun stuff but I especially like it because my workload slows down a little. The main reason is many of our customers are Binghamton University students and they leave after the semester ends in May.
You can really sense they are returning now, many are moving into their apartments for the fall semester and getting ready for the whole show to begin again. We've been busy working on Binghamton Restaurant Week which will be September 21-30th. This time the charity that was chosen is C.H.O.W. and thankfully it has been sponsored by M&T Bank. What a great deal it is! You get to sample some great restaurants in Binghamton for a reduced price...the deal is 3 for $8 at lunch and 3 for $20 at dinner. What that means is three courses (salad or appetizer, entree and dessert). We've been working on our menus, trying to find the right combination of entrees that we know will appeal to our customers. I'm thinking about cupcakes for one of the dessert offerings...everyone loves a cupcake! Red velvet, chocolate, vanilla...they are delicious little slices of heaven. I'll keep you posted on what the final menus are and details on restaurant week as it draws closer.
Enough for now! Happy birthday to one of our wonderful managers, Carol Shiffner who we love and appreciate so much. Hope she has a great day today. As for me, it's raining today...as much as I'd love to just watch a movie and veg it's off to the grocery store and then laundry. Good times.
